How much carry-on baggage can you take with you, what is the maximum size of the baggage and what weight limits do you have to comply with? These are exactly the questions we answer in this article.
The size of the carry-on baggage
On the airlines’ websites, the maximum size of baggage is indicated in the following form: length x width x height. Depending on the origin of the airline, the data is given in centimeters (cm), inches (in) or inches .
However, a total circumference for hand luggage can also be specified, such as 115 cm. This means that you have to sum the length, width and depth and this value must not exceed 115.
For example: Your carry-on suitcase at home has a length of 55 cm, a width of 40 cm and a height of 20 cm. This results in: 55 + 40 + 20 = 115 cm circumference.
Carry-on baggage policy of the airlines
Each airline can set its own specifications for the size, weight and number of carry-on baggage allowed.
In addition, the guidelines also depend on the respective flight fare. While in Economy Class usually only 1 hand luggage is allowed, Business & First Class are usually allowed to carry 2 pieces of hand luggage.
Important: Hand luggage can also be a large piece of luggage that is stowed above the seat. As well as a small piece of luggage that can be stowed under the front seat.
