What is a group check-in?
In the case of group check-in, check-in is done for several passengers at the same time. This means that not every fellow passenger has to check in the flight individually.
Group check-in can be done in several ways: both in person at the airport counter and online. Online check-in is particularly suitable for groups, as this can be done from the comfort of your own home.

How does an online group check-in work?
Online group check-in is only possible if you have booked the flight for everyone together . In addition, some airlines do not offer online group check-in or have restrictions. In most cases, only groups of up to 9 people can check in online together.
To perform an online group check-in, you usually need to use your airline’s website or mobile app. For check-in, you will need the booking or e-ticket number, personal information of all fellow travelers, information about the respective identification documents and possibly also certain entry documents.
Many airlines also offer the option of reserving a seat for each passenger individually. Please note, however, that depending on the fare and seat, there may be a cost for the reservation.
After online check-in, you will receive all boarding passes and can save, print or send them to the group members. For group travel, we always recommend that you print out all boarding passes and take them with you – in case someone forgets the boarding pass, has deleted the file or no longer has a battery on their mobile phone.
What documents do you need?
Booking number / e-ticket number
The booking number or e-ticket number is a unique number that can be found on the booking documents .
If you have booked the flight for the whole group, then you only have one booking number or e-ticket number.
Personal Information
Depending on the airline and destination, you will need to enter different personal information when checking in online. It is best to make a note of the following data for all fellow travelers:
- The full name (+middle name)
- The date of birth
- The address (street, postcode, city, country)
Passport / Identity card
You will need the passport or identity card number of all fellow travelers, as well as often the expiry and issue date.
It is best to take a photo of all travel documents so that you can easily read all the information at check-in.
Entry documents
In most cases, entry documents must be provided or uploaded directly at online check-in . If you need entry documents (e.g. visa, Covid-19 certificates…) for your destination, then these documents should be sent to you by everyone.
